What are signs of liver toxicity?

Liver toxicity or damage can manifest through various signs and symptoms.  These symptoms may be signs of other health issues, so be sure to consult a medical professional for accurate diagnosis. 

Fatigue or low energy can be a symptom of liver dysfunction
Digestive issues: abdominal pain, bloating, gas, indigestion, nausea, vomiting or bowel changes can indicate liver toxicity
Skin issues: rashes, itching or other skin irritations can be a symptom of liver toxicity.  Our skin reflects issues inside the body.
Mental confusion:  liver toxicity affects brain function and can lead to confusion, difficulty concentrating, and memory problems
Dark colored urine: the liver is a filtering organ of waste products from the blood. When it's not functioning properly, it may result in dark or tea colored urine


Why is detoxifying the liver an important part of overall health? The liver is the natural detoxifier of the body and keeps everything working properly.  Here are some good ways to promote liver health and facilitate  detox: 

Balanced diet rich is fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats.  
Avoid processed foods, saturated fats, refined sugars, and excessive alcohol consumption
Eat liver friendly foods like cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, brussels sprouts, cauliflower), leafy greens, garlic, onions, turmeric, ginger, green tea and citrus fruits. 
Exercise regularly promotes blood circulation and removal of toxins from the blood and body
Reduce stress levels through meditation, yoga, deep breathing, or relaxing hobbies.
Getting enough sleep helps the body to repair and regenerate.
