“Well I was born in a small town, and I live in small town, probably die in a small town, oh those small communities”….John Cougar Mellencamp.
That song is a brief description of what it’s like to live in a small town. I grew up in a town of around 1000, I actually lived in the country 6 miles outside of town. Now I live in a community of 25,000. But it’s still considered a small town, comparted to the neighboring metro area of Omaha, around 1 million with all the annexed areas.
I traveled to a super small town to do some work and eat while I waited for my daughter to visit her friend for a few hours. Went to the local bar and grill. They are all the same which is what gives small towns the comfort of community and home. Swiss mushroom burger, pool table next to the bar, a small few locals hanging out catching up on the week. I walk in wearing a mask…no one else had one on. They didn’t have the mask mandate for their half dozen patrons. You can tell I’m an outsider here, working on my laptop in the corner on a Saturday night…yeah….lame. I know. These days I take time to work when I can. Thank goodness for my hotspot on my phone, no Wi-Fi here.

BUT the friendly service and people willing to strike up a conversation with you about anything is a fun perk of hanging out in small towns.
Good food, good service, good people, good times.
Good for the soul.
