The Season of Fall is Upon Us!

Summer is over technically and the cooler temperatures of autumn are arriving here in Nebraska. Although yesterday it was close to 90 degrees and this morning was down to 55 degrees so....

Here in the Midwest we can have multiple seasons in one day or one week.

Many people love the season of fall because of its bright colorful changes in the leaves pumpkin spice and crisp cool mornings. I on the other hand am not a big fan of autumn.  To me it means that winter is right around the corner which means cold and snow less sunlight, And dreary days And I find myself with less energy and motivation during the days.

So what do you do when your energy drops with this seasonal change?

Increasing your energy levels during the fall can be approached in several ways:

Get Sunlight: With shorter days, try to get outside during daylight hours. Natural light helps regulate your circadian rhythm and boost mood.

Stay Active: Incorporate regular exercise into your routine. Activities like hiking, jogging, or even brisk walking can increase energy and improve your mood.

Eat Seasonal Foods: Focus on nutritious, seasonal foods like pumpkins, squash, and apples. These can provide essential vitamins and minerals to keep your energy up.

Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water. Dehydration can lead to fatigue, so keep a water bottle handy.

Limit Sugary Foods: While it’s tempting to indulge in fall treats, excessive sugar can lead to energy crashes. Opt for balanced snacks like nuts or yogurt.

Prioritize Sleep: As the days shorten, establish a consistent sleep schedule. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night.

Manage Stress: Practice mindfulness or yoga to reduce stress, which can sap your energy. Even a few minutes of deep breathing can help.

Engage Socially: Connect with friends and family. Social interactions can be energizing and uplifting, especially during the cozy fall months.

Try New Activities: Fall is a great time to explore new hobbies or interests. Keeping your mind engaged can boost your overall energy.

By making a few adjustments to your routine, you can maintain higher energy levels and enjoy the beauty of the season!
