Protein Helps your Body Sustain Energy

Although the body uses carbohydrates and fats as its first fuel source, protein is vital for helping the body to sustain energy levels.   

It is the building block of muscle that helps to regulate your metabolism and all the body system functions.  Protein also is essential for storing iron in the body which transports oxygen to the cells and thus helps keep energy levels up.  

Protein is mainly found in all sources of animal meats including beef, pork, chicken, fish and seafoods.

If you lean towards the side of vegetarian or vegan diet, there are still great ways to get your protein through plant based proteins like nuts, legumes, and the protein powder I use to get the recommended protein daily.  Check it out below:

Helps keep blood sugar balanced when eaten with carbs to decrease the blood sugar spike and crash

So even though protein is not the body's main source of fuel and energy, it is still vital to have some protein with every meal.
